AT LAST !!!!

http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/generic/ ... le%20Talks

Quote:
A partial squadron of Rafale F3 multirole aircraft equipped with the Reco NG and Damocles is standing up at a new French base in Abu Dhabi to show off the aircraft’s capabilities, backed up by a naval and air force deployment in the Afghan theater begun last month.

I don't know if it's been declared operational yet, but they are using it...

The 12F has been using the Damocles with Rafale during its deployment in Afghanistan in January, and dropped GBU-12s.

Reported by A&C this week.

It's for sure now, Rafale is (at last) able to self-designate its targets, and has done it at war.

Congrats so the Rafale is finally ready with all planned weapons and stores.
Is it known whether Damocles can generate target coordinates to allow the employment of AASMs?

I really hope since the only reason for this long integration was the sensor fusion...

As mentioned by Kovy, Rafale is about to be deployed with the Rover datalink in addition to the Damocles pod.

Maybe we'll know more in the future. Is the Rover III yet planned to be integrated on the pod itself? I mean to remember to have read that full Rover integration comes with the Damocles XF and that the current system is fitted to the aircraft itself :?:

I don't know but as far as I know, only 13 Rover kits have been ordered for the Rafale.

Should be sufficient for training and small detachments.

That's an emergency order for Afghanistan. :)

I suppose the Scrabee DL fitted to the F2+ examples wasn't up for the task of image sharing? Is it known how many aircraft received it anyway and were it just Bs or also Ms? Anyway it's good to see that Damocles is finally ready for action among the various other stores and weapons planned. How long will the deployment to Afghanistan last at all?
