As we all know Dassault tries it's luck to sell the Rafale to Lybia. 3 Rafale C F2 will participate in the Lybian military air parade.

In the late morning of Friday, August 28, three single-seat Rafales took off from Saint Dizier air base to fly to Tripoli (Libya). Alongside 75 Libyan and foreign aircraft, these “new-generation” combat aircraft of the French air force will take part in the air parade due to be held on Tuesday, Sept. 1st to mark the 40th anniversary of the Great People’s Socialist Jamahirya.
The presence of these F2-standard Rafales demonstrates France’s wish to reinforce its cooperation with Libya in the field of defence.
It wouldn't surprise me at all, probably that the interest shown about the Rafale was aimed at getting lower prices from the russians (or at the opposite the interest now shown with russian aircrafts could boil down to get a lower price fron Dassault). This is the "world market game"

Since no french media says it's over, i still consider that there are two different markets... Remember Rafale are intended to serve in special forces...
Lybia is not such a rich country at all and I have my doubts they can afford both Sukhois and Rafales. We'll certainly learn more, but it has to be remembered that a potential Rafale purchase, while being discussed, was never a done deal.

It is said that the UAE will order Rafale for Libya. TTU published the number of a total of 100 Rafale, produced under the UAE standard, for both the UAE and Libya.
The negotiations with Libya (14 Rafale) are finished since November (even the price is decided and agreed). It remains to be seen whether or not Ghadafi will sign the contract (when, and where ?)
Negotiations finished, but no contract signed. Seems to become some kind of running gag for the Rafale export campaigns. To be honest I don't like to see such weapons in the hand of states like this, on the other side if the French wouldn't sell, someone else would kick in.
