I'm very late, and an easy way to give you information is this thread...

One message per kind of information...

In 2009, in DSI, we've learnt something quite interesting :

During negociations for a new order, equipments are classified in several categories so as to reduce the costs by limiting the risks.

Category A : the State founds the R&D and is totally responsible ;
Category B : the State doesn't let Dassault manage the supplies of the equipments to be assembled on the Rafale. The State directly buys those equipment to the subcontractors.
Category C : Dassault is the chief.

With category C, Dassault has to manage the risks with subcontractors and tend to increase the price for risk compensation. Thus, our gouvernement's goal is to enlist as much equipments as possible in the category B or even A.

In the document available there : post965.html#p965

... we learn that when Rafale entered service, lots of pilots complained of thoracic pains. It was discovered that they were due to a problem with the OBOGS regulation.

The problem has been fixed.
